"Star Wars: Knight Errant: Escape #4" Plot Summary

Writer: John Jackson Miller

Odion has captured Kerra and is wearing the Helm of Ieldis.  He says he knew who Kerra was ever since she entered his service, but wanted to see what her plan was before killing her.

General Yulan reports that they have found the skeletons of Kerra's parents. They brought the cave down on themselves to keep the Helm hidden. When Kerra hears it, her anguish activates the Helm. Never knowing exactly what it would do, Odion now realizes that he can use it to increase emotional pain and transfer it to others, much like his own Force powers work but stronger. With the Helm, he can cause more people to want to die or give death. As an experiment, he turns the Malakite and Daiman's forces against each other, so that people in each army start attacking each other in their own camps. Malakite and Daiman themselves both quikly realize what is happening, however, and escape. Odion's own army fights and destroys itself, but Odion doesn't care. All he wants is to cause as much death as possible.

Odion then takes Kerra and his surving officers to Vanahame,  so that he can have all the isolated children in the bubbles feed the Helm's power with their despair.
